Casa Soma

Este proyecto se toma como un ejercicio para reinventar un hogar dentro de una estructura que no funcionaba, mediante la respuesta a dos premisas: ¿cómo otorgar privacidad y apertura al mismo tiempo? ¿Cómo lograrlo dentro de una estructura existente, caracterizada por pesados muros, sin mucha iluminación natural y zonas residuales en el exterior?

El proyecto parte de la delimitación de los muros originales y ventanas existentes, y supone la construcción de un tercer nivel y la apertura hacia el centro de la casa, por medio de un nuevo espacio central destinado a la escalera, abierto hacia todos los espacios y hacia el sol por medio de un lucernario. Así, los estrechos pasillos y cuartos obscuros se vuelven un lugar central, lleno de luz, definido por la pieza de Jerónimo Hagerman que consiste en una serie de plantas colgantes y móviles. Así mismo, las fachadas se piensan como una serie de aperturas cuadradas que nos permitan encuadrar diferentes aspectos del exterior y al mismo tiempo nos ayude a perder la masividad del volumen.

This project is taken as an exercise to reinvent a home within a structure that did not work, by responding to two premises: how to provide privacy and openness at the same time? How to achieve it within an existing structure, characterized by heavy walls, without much natural light and residual areas outside?

The project is based on the delimitation of the original walls and existing windows, and involves the construction of a third level and a big opening toward the center of the house, by means of a new central space for the stairs, open to all spaces and towards the sun through a skylight. Thus, the narrow corridors and dark rooms become a central place, full of light, and later defined by Jerónimo Hagerman’s piece of art consisting of a series of hanging and mobile plants. Likewise, the façades are intended as a series of square openings that allow us to frame different aspects of the exterior and at the same time it help us lose the massive volume.
